Gem: Telegram How To

Comments: link a discussion group

What it is

Link a group to your channel and every post gets a comment button. Comments open as a thread under the post and also land in the group, where admins can keep the conversation civil. Each new post is forwarded to the group and pinned there automatically. People can comment without joining the group; replies to their comments reach them in a chat called Replies.

How to do it

  1. Open the channel profile › Edit (iOS), pencil icon (Android) or … › Manage Channel (Desktop) › Discussion.
  2. Choose one of your groups, or tap Create New Group (Create a New Group on Android).
  3. Confirm with Link Group. Subscribers now see Leave a Comment under each post.
  4. To let only group members comment, open the group's settings › Group Type and… To let only group members comment, open the group's settings › Group Type and set Who Can Send Messages? to Only Members.
  5. To end comments, go back to Discussion › Unlink Group.

Watch out

With Gem

Linking the group happens in Telegram; Gem doesn't do it. Connect the same group in /myprojects › Chats › + Group, and Gem answers questions there that it knows from your knowledge, with a link to the article; when it doesn't know, it stays silent and the question goes to your Unanswered list. For each group you choose: answers on, only when mentioned, or off.
