Connect your channel and group
What it is
In Chats, connect a channel and a group for each language. @gembot becomes their admin, checks its rights and makes a join-request link: the door. Gem approves requests by your rules and the person's language. A request to the other language's chat is declined, and the person gets their own. The project's Mini App shows everyone the channel and group in their language: Join, Requested or Joined.
How to do it
- No chats yet? In Telegram, create a channel (New Channel) and a group (New Group) for each language.
- Send /myprojects, pick the project and tap Chats.
- Tap + Channel · EN.
- Tap Pick the channel under the message field. Telegram shows your chats:… Tap Pick the channel under the message field. Telegram shows your chats: pick the channel, and Telegram adds @gembot as an admin with the rights it needs.
- If Gem's checklist shows a missing right, tap Give the rights, then Check again.
- Repeat with + Group · EN, then for other languages: + Channel · RU, + Group · RU.
- In Chats → Rules of the groups, write your group rules once. Gem… In Chats → Rules of the groups, write your group rules once. Gem translates them for each group and keeps them pinned.
Watch out
- One channel and one group per language.
- Gem needs these admin rights. In a channel: post, edit and delete messages, invite users via link. In a group: delete messages, ban users, invite users via link, pin messages.
- Telegram shows join requests only to a bot with the right to invite users. Without it, the door can't work.
