Create a channel: public or private
What it is
A channel broadcasts your posts to unlimited subscribers; only admins post, and newcomers see the whole history. A public channel has a t.me link and appears in Telegram search; its posts are readable on the web and indexed by search engines. A private channel is joined only through an invite link or when the owner adds you.
How to do it

- Add subscribers from your contacts, or skip.
- To switch later: channel profile › Edit (iOS), pencil icon (Android) or … › Manage Channel (Desktop) › Channel Type.
Watch out
- You can add only the first 200 subscribers yourself; the rest join by link.
- A public link has 5 to 32 characters (a–z, 0–9, underscores) and can't start with a digit.
- You can create up to 10 public channels and groups, or 20 with Premium.
- A private channel with a publicly posted invite link counts as public in content disputes.
- Don't send your link to strangers: spam reports can ban you from contacting people.
With Gem
Gem doesn't create channels: make one in Telegram, then in @gembot tap /myprojects › Chats › + Channel and pick it. Telegram adds @gembot as an admin with the rights it needs; Gem checks them and makes a join-request link, the «door». A project has one channel per language.
