Create a group (and what a supergroup is)
What it is
A group is a chat where every member can write. There are two kinds. A basic group holds up to 200 members; a supergroup holds up to 200,000 and has features basic groups lack, such as topics. Telegram upgrades a basic group to a supergroup by itself once you use something only supergroups support.
How to do it

- Under Group Type, choose Public Group (Public on iOS) and set its t.me link, or keep the group private.
- Set Chat History for New Members to Visible or Hidden.
Watch out
- Anyone can read a public group's history and join it.
- If someone's privacy settings (Settings › Privacy and Security › Groups & Channels) block adding them, send an invite link instead.
- A group near 200,000 members can become a broadcast group with no member limit, where only admins write. There's no way back.
With Gem
Gem doesn't create groups: make one in Telegram, then in @gembot tap /myprojects › Chats › + Group and pick it. Telegram adds @gembot as an admin with the rights it needs; Gem checks them and makes a join-request link, the «door». A project has one group per language.
