Earn a share of channel ad revenue
What it is
Telegram shows official ads in public channels with at least 1,000 subscribers. Since 31 March 2024 the owner can get 50% of the revenue from ads in their channel, paid in Grams, the cryptocurrency of the TON blockchain. Bots that show ads get 50% too. Advertisers choose the channels and pay for views, so income depends on being chosen and on how many people see the ads.
How to do it
- Make the channel public and grow it past 1,000 subscribers.
- On iOS and Android open Channel Settings › Statistics › Monetization; on Desktop, the channel's ⋮ › Monetization.
- Check ad impressions, ad rewards and the reward available for collection.
- A week ahead, turn on Settings › Privacy and Security › Two-Step Verification.
- Tap Collect via Fragment (Desktop: Collect), enter your password and give your… Tap Collect via Fragment (Desktop: Collect), enter your password and give your TON wallet address on Fragment. The Grams go there.
- Or put the balance into ads for your channel.
Watch out
- You can collect only if two-step verification was turned on more than 7 days ago and you logged in on that device more than 24 hours ago.
- You can't collect less than 10 Grams.
- Switch Off Ads, open from boost level 50, ends your rewards.
- Premium subscribers don't see ads unless they turn on Settings › Telegram Business › Do Not Hide Ads.
- Telegram sets the share and can change it at any time.
- Withdrawals are final: a wrong wallet address loses the Grams. Fragment can't pay out in some countries.
With Gem
Gem doesn't show ads or pay ad revenue. Nearby: /dashboard in @gembot shows your project's numbers, sales included.
