Get paid with Star reactions
What it is
A Star reaction lets readers send your channel post Stars instead of a free emoji, and you get 100% of them (Telegram, August 2024). Each such post shows Top Senders, the people who sent the most; anyone can stay off the list, and owners can react on behalf of their channel. In Live Stories, viewers tap the Star icon to support the host or pay to highlight and pin a comment.
How to do it
- Turn them on: channel profile › Edit (iOS), pencil (Android) or ⋮ › Manage… Turn them on: channel profile › Edit (iOS), pencil (Android) or ⋮ › Manage Channel (Desktop) › Reactions › Enable Paid Reactions.
- Tell readers how: tap the star under a post; React with Stars sets the amount and Show me in Top Senders.
- Thank your Top Senders by name in a post.
- Track the Stars balance in Statistics › Monetization (Desktop: ⋮ › Monetization).
- Go live in the channel's stories (needs boosts). During the stream, top corner › Live Settings sets a price per comment.
Watch out
- As with all channel Stars, you can use them for ads or withdraw them as Grams 21 days after they arrive, at least 1,000 at a time.
- Stars bought through a store such as Apple's can be refunded within 21 days, and then they can leave your balance.
- Senders who hide show as Anonymous.
- You can't send Star reactions to your own Live Story.
With Gem
Gem doesn't handle Star reactions. Nearby: in /myprojects → Sell supporters pay Stars in your project's Mini App for an offer you describe in words («Supporter for 1 Star: a badge and a thank-you»), and the ledger shows gross, Gem's share, refunds and yours.
