Greet new customers and answer when you're away
What it is
A greeting goes out by itself when someone writes to you for the first time, or again after a quiet period you choose: a hello, answers to frequent questions, details about your business. An away message goes out when you're closed or on vacation, so people know when to expect an answer. Both need Premium.
How to do it
- Open Settings › Telegram Business › Greeting Messages and turn on Send Greeting Message.
- Tap Create a Greeting Message and write it; it can be several messages with photos or files.
- Choose who gets it: All Private Chats Except... or Only Selected Chats, then… Choose who gets it: All Private Chats Except... or Only Selected Chats, then pick chats or categories: contacts, non-contacts, new or existing chats.
- Under Period of no activity, choose how long a chat must stay quiet before the greeting repeats.
- Open Away Messages, turn on Send Away Message and tap Create an Away Message.
- Pick Send Always, Outside of Business Hours or Custom Schedule, and recipients as in step 3.
- Turn on Only if Offline to send it only while you're offline.
Watch out
- The quiet period can be 7, 14, 21 or 28 days.
- Both work only in private chats, never in groups.
- Leave out friends, family and staff.
- Outside of Business Hours follows your Opening Hours: set those first.
With Gem
Gem doesn't send greeting or away messages from your account. Nearby: give your project knowledge (texts, links, PDFs, photos of price lists, voice notes), and Gem answers questions with sources on your page, in the project's chat in @gembot (`t.me/gembot?start=<name>`) and in your groups; what it can't answer comes to you once.
