Growing a channel: invite links per source and where to share them
What it is
Besides the main link, admins can create extra invite links with their own name, time limit, user limit or admin approval. Telegram shows who joined through each link, so one link per place shows which source brings people. Any link can become a QR code.
How to do it
- Open the channel profile › Edit › Invite Links (Android: pencil icon; Desktop: top-right menu › Manage Channel).
- Tap Create a New Link.
- In Link Name (Optional), name the source: "Website", "Instagram bio", "Flyer".
- Optionally set Limit by time period, Limit by number of users or Request Admin Approval.
- Tap Create, then Copy Link, or ⋮ / ⋯ › Get QR Code.
- Put each link in one place: website, each social profile, newsletter, a partner's post, a poster.
- Later, open Invite Links: each link shows how many people joined, and who.
Watch out
- You can add only the first 200 subscribers yourself; then the channel grows through links.
- Don't send links to strangers: if they report spam, you may be banned from contacting people.
- A link name fits 32 characters; a user limit goes up to 99,999.
- One link can't have both Request Admin Approval and a user limit.
- Revoke a leaked link with ⋮ / ⋯ › Revoke: it stops working at once.
With Gem
Connect your channel in /myprojects › Chats: Gem makes a join-request link and approves requests by your project's rules and each person's language. Everyone in the project also gets a personal link, `gem.bot/<name>?i=<code>`, and sees how many came through it.
