Let bots talk to bots and manage other bots

What it is

Since spring 2026, bots can work with other bots. Bot-to-bot communication (Bot API 10.0, May) lets your bot message and answer other bots. Managed bots (Bot API 9.6, April) let it create bots for its users and run them.

How to do it

  1. Turn on Bot-to-Bot Communication Mode in @BotFather.
  2. In a group, address a bot with `/command@OtherBot` or a reply; at least one of… In a group, address a bot with `/command@OtherBot` or a reply; at least one of the two bots needs the mode. A bot with the mode that is an admin or has privacy mode off gets all bot messages there.
  3. In private, call `sendMessage` with the other bot's `@username` as `chat_id`; both need the mode.
  4. To manage bots, enable Bot Management Mode in your bot's settings in @BotFather's Mini App (`t.me/BotFather?startapp`).
  5. Share `t.me/newbot/<your_bot>/<suggested_username>?name=<suggested_name>` or a… Share `t.me/newbot/<your_bot>/<suggested_username>?name=<suggested_name>` or a `request_managed_bot` keyboard button (private chats only). The person confirms the pre-filled, editable name and username.
  6. On the `managed_bot` update, fetch the token with `getManagedBotToken`, rotate… On the `managed_bot` update, fetch the token with `getManagedBotToken`, rotate it with `replaceManagedBotToken`, limit access with `setManagedBotAccessSettings`.

Watch out

With Gem

Gem has no bot-to-bot features and doesn't create bots: projects run on @gembot, and a creator's own bot isn't available yet. Nearby: an app in your project can send a `gem.event` that drives the project's rules.
