Stories for channels and profiles
What it is
Stories are vertical photos and videos at the top of the chat list. Anyone can post from a profile; channels and groups can from level 1, and each boost level adds one story per day. A channel post reposted as a story opens the post when tapped.
How to do it
- In the chat list, tap [+] (iOS) or the camera icon (Android); Desktop can't post stories.
- As a channel: tap the story icon on its profile or pick it under Post Story As (needs the Post Stories admin right).
- For a profile story, choose Everyone, My Contacts, Close Friends or Selected Contacts, then Post Story.
- To repost a channel post: share under the post › Repost to Story.
- To keep an expired story: archive (Settings › My Stories for a profile) › Post to Profile.
- To fix a story, open it on the device you posted from › ⋮ / ⋯ › Edit Story.
Watch out
- Without Premium a story lasts 24 hours; 6, 12 or 48 hours need Premium. The duration can't be changed.
- Captions fit 200 characters (2048 with Premium); on a profile, caption links and formatting need Premium.
- A free account's viewer list disappears 24 hours after the story expires.
- Free profiles have weekly and monthly caps; Premium allows up to 100 stories a day.
- Files go up to 30 MB.
With Gem
Gem prepares a 9:16 picture and caption from a post or about the project; tap "Publish story" and Telegram's story editor opens with it. Anyone can share the project to their own story from its Mini App.
