Telegram Ads: how official ads work
What it is
Telegram Ads is Telegram's own platform at ads.telegram.org (promote.telegram.org leads there). An ad is a sponsored message of up to 160 characters with a button to your channel or bot, shown in public channels with 1000+ subscribers that you pick. Private chats and contacts aren't used for targeting. You pay per thousand views (CPM) in Grams via Fragment; channel owners get 50%.
How to do it
- On ads.telegram.org, click Log In and confirm in Telegram.
- A channel owner can create an organization so all admins manage the ads.
- Manage Budget › Add Funds; payment goes through Fragment.
- Click Create a new ad: Title, Text, and your `t.me/...` link as URL.
- Set the CPM (minimum 0.1) and budget, add target channels by link, accept the terms, click Create Ad.
- After In Review it turns Active; Statistics shows views, joins and bot starts.
Watch out
- Targeting can't be changed and the budget can't be lowered: use Create a similar ad.
- Ad balance can't be withdrawn or refunded; edits take 15–60 minutes.
- Your channel needs a photo, full description and a post in the two weeks before review; ad and channel languages must match.
- One link at most, no line breaks or lists; no follower-inflating services, gambling or political ads.
- Premium subscribers don't see ads.
- Collecting your share (Statistics › Monetization) needs two-step verification on for 7+ days and at least 10 Grams.
With Gem
Gem doesn't buy ads or read channel statistics. Nearby: /dashboard in @gembot shows landing visits by source and joins to your project's chats, to compare weeks before and after a campaign.
