Use AI right inside Telegram: the AI editor, guest AI bots and custom AI styles
What it is
Two spring 2026 updates put AI where you type. The AI editor (March) fixes grammar, rewrites your text in a style such as Formal, Short, Zen or Viking, and translates it, with a style if you like. Custom AI styles (May) turn your own prompt into a style you can share by link. Guest AI bots (May) answer in any private or group chat when you mention them, even if they aren't members. The editor runs on Telegram's Cocoon network, with zero access to your data, Telegram says.
How to do it
- Type more than 3 lines, tap the Ai icon above the Send arrow, and choose a fix, a style or a language.
- For your own style, tap Create in the Style tab of the AI editor and write the… For your own style, tap Create in the Style tab of the AI editor and write the prompt. Share its link: others can preview examples and add the style instantly.
- To ask an AI bot, type its @username in your message; it replies in the same… To ask an AI bot, type its @username in your message; it replies in the same chat. One message can mention up to 3 guest bots.
Watch out
- AI edits have a daily limit; Premium users get 50 times more.
- Only bots with guest mode answer a mention. A guest bot sees just the message that mentions it and the one that message replies to, not the member list or the rest of the chat.
- Guest bots don't work in secret chats or in groups where the owner turned on content protection.
With Gem
Gem isn't a guest bot you call into your private chats. It's an AI assistant of its own: in @gembot it answers from a project's own knowledge, with sources, and in your project's groups it always replies when mentioned.
