What Telegram gives a creator
What it is
Telegram gives you six tools in one app. A channel sends your posts to unlimited subscribers. In a group, up to 200,000 people talk. A bot answers each person automatically. A Mini App is a web app inside Telegram. Stories sit above the chat list. Stars are how people pay you.
How to do it
- Channel. iOS: the new message icon at the top right of **Chats** › **New… Channel. iOS: the new message icon at the top right of Chats › New Channel. Android: the round pencil button › New Channel. Desktop: the menu at the top left › New Channel.
- Group: the same menus › New Group.
- Bot: send /newbot to @BotFather and pick a name and a username ending in "bot".
- Mini App: in @BotFather, set up your bot's Main Mini App.
- Story: tap **[+]** (iOS) or the camera icon (Android) in the chat list.
- Stars: in your channel's settings (**Edit** on iOS, the pencil on Android, **…… Stars: in your channel's settings (Edit on iOS, the pencil on Android, … › Manage Channel on Desktop), turn on Reactions › Enable Paid Reactions.
Watch out
- You can add only the first 200 subscribers to a channel yourself.
- Bots can't start conversations: people must message the bot or add it to a group first.
- A channel posts stories only after Premium users boost it; each level adds one story a day.
- Bots and Mini Apps must sell digital goods and services for Stars.
With Gem
Gem puts these pieces into one project: one sentence to @gembot with /newproject gives you a landing page at `gem.bot/<name>` and the project's Mini App, and you connect one channel and one group per language. Selling for Stars inside projects isn't available yet.
